More About Lawn Renovations

1
Prior to Renovation
Prior to a renovation it is highly recommended the use of a selective herbicide to eliminate any broadleaf weeds that are infesting the grass after the winter season, this is recommended at least a week prior to renovations. This ensures there are no weeds growing through your lawn once the fresh lawn begins to rejuvenate. Also the lawn must be actively growing prior to a renovation and must be out of dormancy from the winter (typically happens once the weather heats up during early spring).
2
Things to Consider
Some things to consider when it comes to renovating your lawn includes the amount of water required in the weeks following the renovation. I will provide a pamphlet with the general watering and instructions to follow post-reno which will ensure the highest success rate of the reno. Irrigation is also something very important to consider as it is far more difficult to track the amount of water and areas of lawn that have been covered when not using a proper irrigation system (general garden hose sprinkler or hand watering). There is also always the option to renovate the lawn yourself but will require research to ensure the correct process, hiring the machinery which can be expensive (typically $200-$300 per day for the scarifier and aerator plus likely the use of a trailer). This also comes with a risk of damaging the equipment (if you are inexperienced) or damaging your lawn rather than benefiting it.

Post Renovation
After a full lawn renovation, you can expect your grass to gradually start to recover within a few days, with new growth appearing as the roots establish themselves. In the first week or two, the lawn may look uneven or patchy, but with proper watering and care, it will begin to fill in. Over the coming weeks, the grass should become thicker, healthier, and more vibrant as it fully recovers and establishes a strong root system. Patience and consistent maintenance are key to seeing the best results.
About me
Hi, I’m Cody Francis. I’ve been in the world of gardening since I was a teenager, starting my own business straight out of school at 17. Now, with many years of hands-on experience under my belt, I’ve grown that early passion into a full-time career dedicated to high-quality garden maintenance and care.
Gardening runs in the family—my dad has been in the industry for over 25 years, and working alongside him as I grew up is what sparked my love for transforming outdoor spaces. Whether it’s a tidy-up, a full garden refresh, or ongoing maintenance, I take pride in delivering reliable service and real results.
I genuinely enjoy helping people bring their gardens back to life and creating spaces they can enjoy and feel proud of. If you have any questions about my services or need advice on your garden, feel free to send me a message or email. I’ll get back to you as quickly as I can.

Lawn Aeration
Coring (also called core aeration) involves removing small plugs of soil from your lawn to create holes that allow air, water, and nutrients to penetrate deeper into the root zone. This process relieves soil compaction, promotes stronger root growth, and helps your grass absorb moisture and fertilizer more effectively. The result is a healthier, thicker lawn that's more resistant to drought, disease, and wear, especially beneficial for high-traffic areas or clay soils that tend to become compact.
Pricing $3-$4 per square metre
Minimum 80 square metres
Scarifying / Dethatching
Scarifying involves cutting through and removing the layer of thatch (dead grass, moss, and organic debris) that builds up between your lawn's surface and soil. This process allows air, water, and nutrients to reach the grass roots more easily while also stimulating new growth by lightly damaging the soil surface. Scarifying helps create a healthier lawn by reducing thatch buildup, improving drainage, and giving your grass room to breathe and grow more vigorously. When scarifying scalping the lawn is also recommended getting rid of all the above ground thatch (included in price). Waste Takeaway Included
Pricing $4-$5 per square metre
Minimum 80 square metres
Top Dressing and Fertilizing
Top dressing involves spreading a thin layer of quality soil, compost, or sand mixture over your lawn's surface to improve soil structure and provide nutrients. This process helps level out minor bumps and dips, improves drainage in clay soils, enhances water retention in sandy soils, and adds organic matter that feeds beneficial microorganisms and grass roots. Top dressing also helps fill in bare spots, reduces thatch buildup over time, resulting in a smoother, healthier, and more resilient law
